Quinta Milú La Cometa is made from 100% tempranillo. The sticks are on average 70 years old. The vineyards (El Cangrejo, Peñas Heladas, Galón, Bellavista, Trasconvento and Valdevicente) are located at high altitudes (870-908 m) in the Burgos, Ribera del Duero region. Germán Blanco has been working these vineyards for over 15 years. Completely organic, sustainable and traditional. This wine is more structured and full-bodied than the base Milú, but retains the trademarks of winemaker Germán Blanco: freshness and drinkability. Aged in a mixture of new and old oak for about 15 months, it is charming and rustic – perfect for hearty dishes and cold evenings. The color is intense dark red. Aromas are reminiscent of dark fruits such as black cherries, blackberries and currants. Savory notes of balsamic vinegar, olives and spices also emerge.

Ribera del Duero is an area known for its great reputation, great wines and sometimes great influence of oak. Germán Blanco is a young winemaker who favors a fresher style of Tinto del Pais - the local name for Tempranillo. He calls his project a 'Micro-winery' and it is a true family business, based around the village of La Aguilera in the province of Burgos. He works with very old vineyards, many of which are planted at more than 900 meters above sea level. German makes his elegant, fruity wines using footsteps, wild yeast fermentation and minimal handling. All his wines share a wonderful rusticity, purity of fruit and incredible freshness.

Quinta Milu is Germán R. Blanco's operation in the small town of La Aguilera is a "micro winery". He eschews modern winemaking techniques and international varieties working with old Tempranillo vines. He makes "vinos de pueblo", blended wines from different vineyards from villages in the area, as well as vinos de parcela, sourced from single-vineyards, and parcel-specific. There is no new oak in the winery, Germán uses concrete, amphorae, and old barrels. Quinta Milú is named for Germán's son Lucas whom they lovingly refer to as "Mi Lu" or Milú.
