2021 Van Volxem Schonfels Riesling Grosses Gewächs

Roman Niewodniczanski, who took over the domain in 2000 and completely restored it, is part of the Bittburger family. His drive for quality is unstoppable and his aim is to optimally let the various top terroirs (steep mineral-rich slate, sandstone and rhyolite) speak. The 2021 Van Volxem Schonfels Riesling Grosses Gewächs (GG) is a remarkable wine from the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region in Germany. The Schonfels vineyard is located in the Saar Valley and is known for its steep slopes and slate soils, which contribute to the unique minerality and freshness of the wines.

This Van Volxem Schonfels Riesling GG shows a delicate, floral scent with notes of peach, apricot, almond, pear, plum and lime. The wine shows depth and ripe fruit with additions of spices and herbs. When oxygen is added it shows creamy aromas and a dry aftertaste that lingers in your mouth for a long time. This wine goes excellent with asparagus, light meat dishes and oriental food.
