Description

Château Pape Clément 2024 Grand Cru Classé de Graves (Pessac-Léognan)

Located in Pessac, Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest wine estates in Bordeaux, with a history dating back to 1252. Classified as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves since 1959, the estate benefits from an exceptional terroir with gravel and clay soils that provide excellent drainage and heat retention, essential for the ripening of the grapes.

Grapes and Blend of the 2024 Pape Clément

The 2024 vintage is composed of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. This blend emphasizes the power and structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, combined with the softness and fruitiness of Merlot, and subtle complexity of the other grapes.

2024 Pape Clement Rouge Vinification and Maturation

The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo a strict selection. Vinification takes place in both stainless steel and concrete tanks, followed by maturation in French oak barrels, a significant proportion of which are new. This approach ensures a harmonious integration of fruit, tannins and wood influences, resulting in a wine with depth and elegance.

Tasting note Pape Clément Rouge

Château Pape Clément 2024 presents itself with a deep ruby red color. On the nose aromas of ripe blackberries, plums, graphite and subtle hints of cedar and spices. On the palate the wine is full and structured, with silky tannins and a lively acidity. The finish is long and refined, with notes of dark fruit and a mineral undertone.

Jeb Dunnuck: 95–97 points – “Just classic stuff,” with notes of ripe berries, scorched earth and graphite. A wine of excellent balance and elegance.

Vinous: 94–96 points – Awards the wine as one of the top wines of the vintage.
