Carricante is an old white wine grape variety from eastern Sicily. It is thought to have been growing on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna for at least a thousand years. There are about 200 hectares of plantations on the island. Few vines can be found elsewhere.

what does wine from the Carricante grape taste like?

The taste of the Carricante gives sensations of green apple and citrus, a mineral accent of the volcanic soil (if from Etna) and notes of anise and mint.
