Buy En Primeur Wines at Grandcruwijnen: Directly via the Place de Bordeaux

As an officially registered wine merchant, Grandcruwijnen is authorized to purchase directly via the Place de Bordeaux – the international platform for the pre-sale of fine wines. While originally exclusive to Bordeaux, this network now also features wines from iconic producers in Italy, California, South America, and more. Think of names like Masseto, Solaia, Opus One, Insignia, and Catena Zapata.

What is En Primeur?

En Primeur is a unique way of buying wine, where you purchase wines that are still aging in barrels and will only be delivered months or even years later. This pre-sale offers you the opportunity to buy exclusive and often very limited top wines at an attractive price – often 15% to 30% lower than the eventual market price. It can also be an interesting form of investment, especially considering today’s low interest rates.

How Does the Pre-Order System at Grandcruwijnen Work?

Via our website, you can easily order En Primeur wines using the Pre-order button. After placing your order, you’ll receive a confirmation with an estimated delivery date. As soon as the wine becomes available, we’ll notify you and either ship your order or have it ready for pickup at our warehouse in Dordrecht – depending on your chosen delivery method. Please note: we only ship once your complete order is in stock to avoid partial deliveries.

Why Buy Through the Place de Bordeaux?

In Bordeaux, wines are not sold directly by the châteaux, but through certified négociants. As a recognized wine merchant within this system, Grandcruwijnen purchases directly, giving you the assurance that the wine genuinely originates from the château. This is crucial, as the world of rare wines is vulnerable to fraud and poor storage conditions. Always buy from a trusted source.

A Unique Opportunity: Top Wines from Other Regions via En Primeur

More and more top estates outside Bordeaux are joining the pre-sale system via the Place de Bordeaux. Think of:

- Ornellaia (Masseto) and Antinori (Solaia) from Italy
- Opus One and Insignia from Napa Valley
- Catena Zapata and Seña from South America

A major advantage of these pre-sales is that delivery often takes place just a few weeks after the pre-sale period. For instance, a wine like Masseto might become available as En Primeur in September and be delivered by the end of October. During this brief window, prices can be particularly attractive – and you won’t have to wait long.

Aging Potential and Value Growth

Many Bordeaux wines and other top wines sold via En Primeur offer impressive aging potential. Premium wines can easily age for 30 to 50 years, with some exceptions aging even longer. As bottles become rarer over time, their market value often increases. This makes early purchasing especially appealing for both collectors and investors.
